What is Alalinc?

Alalinc is an electronic information network of the State Law Library. Its objective is to facilitate access and use of law-related information as quickly and efficiently as possible via telephone connection and the Internet. Once you're on Alalinc, you can:

  • Utilize full-text searches to read, print, and/or download the decisions of Alabama's Appellate Courts by the close of business, the day they are released;
  • Read, print, and download the decisions of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals from the Emory University website and the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court from Cornell University's website;
  • Exchange e-mail with other Alalinc and Internet users.

What is on Alalinc?

  • Alabama Supreme Court Decisions beginning October 1994, with full-text search
  • Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals Decisions beginning October 1994, with full-text search
  • Alabama Court of Civil Appeals Decisions beginning October 1994, with full-text search
  • Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals Decisions (Emory University website)
  • U.S. Supreme Court Decisions (Cornell Law University website)

What will Alalinc cost me?

Standard Access:  Annual user fees are $200.00 per year. (Effective January 1, 2000)


What do I need to run Alalinc?

A personal computer, a modem, a telephone connection and communications software.

Users may download complimentary Windows communication software from our website at alalinc.exe, however, you may use any commercial communications software that you may currently own.


How do I get connected to Alalinc?

Users may connect to Alalinc by one of several methods:

You may use the traditional method of Alalinc's Windows Software. Please note that the full-text searches are only available through the web interface (login from the Alalinc website).

You may use "Dialup Networking" to connect to Alalinc and launch your web browser. Alalinc supports the Microsoft stardards for Dialup Networking using Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT.

You may simply connect to Alalinc through the Alalinc website using your regular Internet connection.

Those interested in subscribing to Alalinc should obtain an Access Agreement (PDF file, requires the Adobe Acrobat Reader), or you may contact the Law Library at 334.242.4347 or 1.800.236.4069. Return a completed Access Agreement along with a check for the applicable amount to the State Law Library.
